Samhain Celebration

With the increasing interest of individuals for opportunities to reconnect with ancestral practices and values, this time of year is a powerful time as the veil between worlds grows thin. Today maybe more than ever, there is a growing demand for gatherings of people who recognize the importance of ancestral wisdom and its ability to guide humanity back into harmony with the Earth and with one another. The Celtic tradition of Samhain (pronounced Sow-win) marks the time of year when the bulk of our ancestors’ work was complete. This marked the end of the year and was when time could be set aside to be able to pause and listen to the land, to the stories of those who came before and to the quiet voice within that also remembers. Across cultures, this sacred turning of the wheel of life honors death not as an end, but as a transformation, renewal and the continuity of life. Many are now feeling called to a great remembering to recover and rekindle these ancient practices that nurture balance, belonging and spiritual wholeness.

This Samhain gathering offers sacred space for individuals and communities to reconnect with ancestral practices through song, story, ritual and fire. Together, we will honor the wisdom of our elders, the spirits of the land, and the timeless cycles that sustains us. Through these shared experiences, participants are invited to remember their roots, awaken gratitude, and kindle courage for the path ahead. While our primary focus is on spiritual renewal, we also hold this gathering as an act of collective healing and empowerment. Contributions from the event will support the ongoing efforts of Natural Medicine Alaska to create a more compassionate future by helping to decriminalize sacred plant medicines, honoring their rightful place as teachers and allies in the healing of humanity and the planet.

By joining hands and hearts, we strengthen the web that connects us across generations, traditions and the living world. Together let’s create an evening of remembrance, gratitude and renewal in the spirit of sacred reciprocity as we teach eachother about the art of giving and receiving from the Earth with love and appreciation.

Please dress warmly in layers and bring a dish to share.
